🇺🇸 A Pause for Now
We're taking a break, for now

Hi All —
Brooks here, I hope everyone has had a wonderful start to the fall. I’m touching base quickly to let you know that we are pausing The Flag newsletter for the time being.
Why, you might ask?
To be transparent, we’re focusing our efforts on our other newsletter, The Street Sheet.
As a start-up, we don’t have unlimited resources, so I have to make tough decisions regarding where to allocate our time and money. Right now, The Street Sheet is driving better returns on both, so I would like to lean into that brand heading into 2026.
This doesn’t mean The Flag will cease to exist. In fact, we’ve actually returned to our roots and have started posting more on Instagram lately. I’d love for you to follow us there and on Facebook if you haven’t already.
You’ll join over 250,000 people, which is quite a lot!
You see, I started this brand back in 2016 with the picture below:

Why?
Because I love America.
And at the time, it felt like it was fashionable — especially for my generation — to not love America. I was 26, working in New York City, and I felt like I heard more bad things about the United States than I heard good things.
It really pissed me off to be quite frank with you.
So I started posting pictures of the American Flag as a way to push back against this negative sentiment.
This struck a chord with more people than I anticipated, and pretty soon our accounts started to grow without me doing much work at all. I started receiving pictures of The Flag from all over the country (and the world), and it sparked an interest in the digital media sector that ultimately I ended up pursuing as a full-time job.
The goal of this newsletter has always been to provide “every view of the red, white, and blue”. Or at least that’s the slogan that I played around with for a little while.
I think we achieved that mission over multiple years thanks to all of you.
So again, this isn’t really a goodbye. If you love the American Flag, then follow our social accounts and we’ll see you over there.
For our premium members, we are pausing your payments, so you shouldn’t see any charges. If you do, just send us an email and we’ll get that straightened out.
Thank you all for allowing us into your inbox. It’s a special place, and we hope we provided you with some context, perspective, and a little bit from both sides.
All the best,
Brooks
